Question: I saw what you were talking about on a website. I want to ask if you have any suggestions on good spots to book shows paid and unpaid for an artist I'm working with? - GMoney
Answer: [Laughing] if there was a list of just that, wouldn't all of our jobs be that much easier?.... I suggest starting local and connect with establishments catering to the artist genre you represent and see if they host reputable showcases, open mics, concerts etc. that your client can participate in. Performing at these types of events will help build a physical buzz and brand development while putting you in the company of like-minded people to network with.
It's also good to look into regional and national music conferences that offer opportunities for indie talent to perform. Some of the larger more established conferences offer infinite opportunities for emerging artists. Google & due diligence will provide you with these events.
Regardless whatever avenue you choose booking shows for emerging indie talent is a full time job that takes the ability to properly network with the right people. If all else fails look into retaining a reputable booking agent.

If your not familiar with Chris webby I'm sure you will be in a minute. With sold out shows all over the country and coverage from the top hip hop websites his movement is quickly spreading all over the USA. Over 100,000 Facebook friends and 40, 000 twitter followers he is definitely catching someone's attention. Chris had a show tonight at highline ballroom and he brought a few friends with him. Lauren Hill gives birth to her sixth child
Hip-Hop singer, Lauryn Hill has given birth to her sixth child, a baby that arrived on Saturday (July 23).
The 36-year-old performer announced the pregnancy to much fanfare.
The eccentric performer revealed her pregnancy in a concert.
“I keep having these children. I don’t know if I’m the most fertile woman in America,” she said at a show in Los Angeles earlier this year.
It remains unclear if Rohan Marley, the father of her five other kids, is the child of the newborn.
Hill is still slated to appear as a highlight of the Rock the Bells Festival next month.

Kanye West and Jay Z name their group "The Throne"
Kanye West and Jay-Z have released the name of their new group, revealed tour plans, and confirmed release dates for their highly anticipated 'Watch The Throne' album.
The duo have settled on the name "The Throne" for their group. They will be touring North America starting September 22, in Detroit in support of "Watch The Throne," which will be released exclusively on iTunes on August 9th. All other retail outlets and digital retailers will release the album on August 12.
Tickets for the 21-city tour are sure to go very fast. You can pre-order them on Live Nation's website starting on July 28, at 10 am local time.
Fans who grab tickets early will also receive a digital copy of the new album.

DMX to remain in prison after being found with drugs in jail
(AllHipHop News) Rapper DMX will remain incarcerated, after jail officials in Yuma State Prison found the rapper with drugs behind bars.
According to reports, DMX has been cited for drug possession, failing and refusing a drug test and smoking, all during his incarceration.
The rapper, who was supposed to be released from jail on Wednesday (July 13th), will be locked up for at least another week and possibly longer.
DMX, born Earl Simmons, was sentenced to a year in prison in December of 2010, for failing to report to his probation officer and refusing to undergo drug treatment.
The rapper has been arrested six times in Maricopa County, Arizona, alone and at least once every year, since 1999.

Mathew Knowles stealing from Beyonce?
Mathew Knowles is vehemently denying accusations that he stole money from his daughter Beyonce while acting as her manager. He has filed legal papers trying to clear his name.
Beyonce fired her dad back in March, but said at the time it was mutual and amicable.
“I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level,” Beyonce said in a statement at the time. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”
However, TMZ is reporting there is much more to the story.
Mathew blames Live Nation Entertainment for sabotaging his business relationship with his daughter. He claims that they told Beyonce he was stealing from her because they wanted desperately to "sink their fangs" into Beyonce's 2011 world tour according to documents obtained by TMZ.
Beyonce eventually had her law firm conduct an audit and discovered her father had stolen from her. He was then fired.
Mathew maintains his innocence and wants the judge to give him the right to take depositions of
various people at Live Nation, to determine just how they concluded he was a thief.

Esther Baxter covers King Magazine and speaks on acting career
Esther Baxter is trying to make the transition from being a video vixen/model to serious actress and shake off her recent break up with Joe Budden in the process.
The beautiful 26-year old talks to King Magazine those subjects and other things that are going on in her world currently. Check out an excerpt from the interview below as wel as some new pics of Esther.
Are you afraid you’ll be typecast in Hollywood?
No not at all, I’m not afraid of that. A few of the roles I’ve been offered had nothing to do with my looks.
Is there any role you won’t do?
I pretty much have the same standards as I did modeling. As long as it’s anything that’s not crazy and raunchy, I want roles that actually show that I can act. We’ve actually passed on quite a few projects because they weren’t going in the direction that we are planning for my career.
That rules out acting like the sex scene in Monster Ball, huh?
[Laughs] That’s not in the plans.
Scoff all you want but it won Halle Berry an Oscar.
It worked for her and that was some crazy acting, for real.
You recently moved to Los Angeles to be in the mix of everything, correct?
I am a Californian. My manager has been trying to get me to move out there for about two years now. It was such a big move that I postponed it. But knowing I needed to move here I decided to go ‘head and do it.
Why the hesitation?
Because I’m recently…single and that was pretty much what was holding me back. Now that I’m single, I’ve decided I’m going to focus on me and my career and my child.
Unfortunately, there’s been more focus on your recent public split with rapper Joe Budden. He does have a track record when it comes to being associated with video models. Did you know this going into your relationship?
With me, I had no idea who he was, what he did, or any of his music.
Seriously? You didn’t know about his hit record, “Pump It Up”?
No, I thought Swizz Beatz did that song.
Ouch.
I didn’t know anything about his past. And I judged him by who he was and who he presented himself to me.
