Angelic Amore a new voice in R&B

Angelic Amore is ready to make her mark on the music world. She has been through the many ups and downs of the industry but one thing is for sure she loves music. Her sound is very unique and she also writes most of her material. Usually when a singer writes their own material there is a much better chance of them succeeding because they can always write for other artists. Angelic Amore has a great voice and she is currently working on her debut album. You will definitely see a lot more of this young lady.

David Rush presents RUSH[ED] Series and Soundtrack

David RUSH Launches RUSH[ED] Series & Soundtrack w/ DJ Whoo Kid
Dramatic Webseries Premieres March 1, 2011
New Single "Party Like We Do"- EP Project on Pitbull's Mr. 305 & XBMG

Trailer Download soundtrack here

Highland Park, NJ -- Even with the best laid plans, life can come from any angle and knock us off of our path. David RUSH is a shining example of maintaining balance and positive energy despite all odds. Diagnosed with a potentially fatal kidney disease in 2007, RUSH was given only a year to live. Four years later, the energetic songwriter/lyricist is celebrating life like only he knows how.

On March 1, 2011, David RUSH will debut the first episode of his webseries RUSH[ED], a reality experience that has followed the hit-making artist through the trials and triumphs of his amazing journey. Prior to the debut, David will release RUSH[ED]: The Soundtrack, a musical accompaniment to the emotionally powerful webseries, hosted by world famous personality DJ Whoo Kid.

The soundtrack will include the song "Rushia" produced by Atlanta's Soundz (Usher, Pitbull) and multiple songs produced by ANT, responsible for the original version of RUSH's 2009 hit "Shooting Star." The mixtape will also feature tracks like "Stay With Me" featuring Miami vocalist Elijah King, "Feel Me See Me," and "Forget Me Not," which was recorded right before David went in for his life changing surgery in November 2010.

Currently, David RUSH is enjoying attention from DJ's in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions with his boisterous club anthem "Party Like We Do," which features a rousing vocal sample from the legendary DJ Kool. RUSH is also featured on international crooner Frankie J's latest single "Dreamgirl," and on fellow New Jersey artist Pure's single "Fell in Love," which is heating up on New York radio.

David RUSH is known by thousands of fans worldwide for his crazy LMFAO-remixed single "Shooting Star" featuring Cash Money rocker Kevin Rudolf and Pitbull, which was released in 2009 via Pitbull's Mr. 305 and Universal Republic. Pitbull actually signed the young songwriter in 2007 after RUSH penned the smash hit "Go Girl," giving the respected Miami rapper one of his most downloaded singles to date.

For 2011, RUSH is planning an EP release via his own Xequtive Board Music Group imprint and Mr. 305. The RUSH[ED] webseries will offer fans some amazing insight into the passion, pain and love that has gone into each and every song that David RUSH performs.

"I have grown soo much, and learned so much about the parts of this business that would eat you alive if you let it," says David RUSH. "My sound is finally what I want it to be, because for a while I felt locked into one lane. It's been a couple of years since I put anything out on a national scale, so I feel brand new and refreshed on so many levels. I dropped a little weight, and that was something I needed and wanted to do for a long time. I'm truly happy with where I'm at now, so it's all brand new for me! I'm ready to take it all on!"

David has already released two volumes of his new Welcome 2 Rushia mixtape series, and has plans to continue with more volumes leading up to his full-length album. As he prepares to share his story with the world through RUSH[ED], he maintains a contagiously positive spirit and humble approach to everything he does.

"I'm just recording with my XBMG team, and working with beats by my production team right now, but I'm looking forward to working on my album and working with the best out," David explains. "They say the sky is the limit - but we're already to the moon, so there's no telling how far we can go!"

Ask Arie: I notice there are tons of music festivals during the summer. I was thinking about signing up for a few, do you think this will be a good look?- James

Absolutely, for the most part participating in events such as music festivals can be very beneficial to unsigned artists. Especially, those [reputable/established] held annually. These events unlike your local bi-monthly neighborhood show cases have people worth networking with. [no disrespect, but let’s be real on the legitimacy and effectiveness of most “promoter” backed talent shows]

BUT, there are so many festivals out here; I highly suggest doing your due diligence aka homework first. It’s important to review the requirements and statistics for each festival as they all differ from one and other. Some things to check:

1. The festival(s) have a category for your genre of music.
2. Level of experience each festival expects all entering participants to have.
3. Age restrictions (Some festivals are held in locations that may not allow anyone under 18 or 21 years of age)
4. FEES… Many festivals have registration fees (Monies to be paid for participation)
5. Sponsors. Usually when events have big name/corporate sponsors it’s a hint on the type of crowd the event may attract and possible event size.

These are just a few examples of what to look for.

With proper preparation, artists may use music festivals as their own mini tour [laughing] Seriously! Think about it, you save money on marketing (festivals have great marketing campaigns and once you’re on the upcoming roster, you become included in all the promo for that year's event). You travel the country introducing your music to new fans, and have the opportunity to network with people that may be influential in the advancement of your career etc. [IDK just a thought] the possibilities are endless. Anyways....

Here are a few of my top festival picks ---- Good Luck and get moving!!!

A3c Festival (Atlanta)::Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival (New York)::Trinity International Hip Hop Festival (Connecticut)::Paid Dues Festival (San Bernandino, CA)::Portland Oregon Hip-Hop Festival (Portland, Oregon)::The Hip Hop Theatre Festival (Washington DC)::Manifesto Hip Hop Festival (Toronto, Canada):: Audiotistic Festival (San Bernardino, CA)::Cypress Hill Smokeout (San Bernardino, CA)::Hip Hop 360 – Canada Festival (Ottawa, Canada)::Rock the Bells (Los Angeles, CA)::Pitch Fork Music Festival (Chicago, IL)

Ask Arie: I’ve received responses from emails I send out saying that my approach is ghetto

Ask Arie Week 3:

I’ve received responses from emails I send out saying that my approach is ghetto. Man, I’m just trying to get my music heard, what do you suggest? - Jo Dee

[laughing] Ghetto may be a little harsh. However, it is very important to approach people [especially if you don’t know them] in a professional manner.

Let’s slip on our common-sense fitted caps shall we….

In my opinion, the best way to approach people [media etc.] is to step into their shoes. Imagine being an editor or program director who receives 100’s of emails a day, from talented people such as yourself looking to have their music posted or played. Now, imagine every other email is “Yo check my new sh*t out” or my personal favorite “You might wanna f*ck with me, I’m that n*gga”...

PAUSE followed by a [blank stare]

Oh and we definitely can’t forget the random single link email. You know what I’m talking about. An email with just a link and no additional information. Really??? Let’s be real your email and "hot sh*t" is going straight into the trash and you may now possibly be marked as SPAM.

My advice… Keep it simple stupid! Sorry, I mean short and to the point. Here’s a few pointers to help you look like you know what you’re doing and be taken serious.

1. Dear Editor or Program Director [If you don’t know the name of the person being contacted]
2. Introduce yourself and the reason for the email.
3. If you’re promoting a project tell a little bit about it. [Keep it SHORT]
4. Enclose a “share” link (in the email body) avoid sending music as an attachment, unless requested. This keeps things all in one neat presentation.
Plus most outlets prefer this format.
5. Leave your contact information.
6. Thank the receiver for taking the time to read your email.
7. Sign “Sincerely, _____________" <------ place your name here 8. SPELL CHECK 9. Press send There are never any guarantees in public relations, but one thing I know for sure. Following these steps will get your foot in the "door", email acknowledged and possibly the coverage you’re seeking. -- Let me know how you make out! Do you have a question for me or something you'd like to know? I'm here every week answering your emails on industry how-to's and important Do's and Don'ts. Ciara releases a statement about her being dropped from her label

There is a rumor that Ciara is being dropped from her label, she released a statement saying that this is not true. Well, even if you were being dropped from your label you wouldn't want the public to know right, so you cover it up some how. Anyway here is the statement.

To my fans: This week the net has been a buzz of the rumor that I have been dropped from my label. At this point that rumor is false.. It is true that I have asked and I pray that my label will release me. I have had some great times and success with my label, but sometimes like all great things, it's at that point where I feel we don't share the same views on who I am as an artist. The past two albums have been very frustrating for me. At times there were songs I chose to lead a project and I was ignored! This project, I even tried to get "Gimmie Dat" started I spent tens of thousands of my own money only to hear the radio PDs tell me my label didn't want the song played. I even spent more than one hundred thousand dollars out of my pocket on the video to bring my vision to it and still no label support. I do understand that some labels are not financially supporting their artists and I have become one of them. You, my fans, know that I strive to do my best to deliver to my you the best songs and creative vision I possibly can. I'm dedicated to my music, performance and to my fans! I've tried to be a team player with the label only to have compromised what I truly believed and was not given the right opportunity to promote and inform my fans of the release of this album. I have so much of me as an artist I still want to give to the world and my fans. A release would allow me to go be creative with people who care and understand me as an artist. In a short time, I will be able to bring to you a new music energy and a visual excitement! Thank you so much for standing by me through the good, bad, and the confusion. I love you all. Love Ciara

Business: Deutsche Boerse Group To Merge With NYSE, Create World's Largest Exchange

Deutsche Boerse and NYSE Euronext's plan to create the world's largest exchange has sent competitors around the world scurrying to find partners, accelerating an industry shake-up.

Traditional exchanges are under intense cost pressure from upstart electronic rivals such as Bats Europe and Chi-X Europe which were set up by some of the world's largest investment banks to loosen the big bourses' grip on share trading.

"The smaller players have really changed the face of these larger players around the world, and so they're forced to merge," said William Karsh, former chief operating officer at Direct Edge, one of two privately-run U.S. electronic trading operators that have challenged the NYSE and Nasdaq OMX Group in recent years.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd said on Thursday it would look for deals with other players after Deutsche Boerse and NYSE's announcement that they were in advanced talks to form a marketplace that would have annual trading volume exceeding $20 trillion.

The world's biggest exchange operator by market value said: "Due to changes in the financial market landscape, HKEx will consider international opportunities for alliances, partnerships and other relationships that present strategically compelling benefits consistent with its focus on markets in China."

Wednesday's news of a bid by London Stock Exchange for Canada's TMX, followed by the Deutsche Boerse talks with NYSE, revived a wave of international mergers last seen in 2006 and 2007, and shifted the process of exchange consolidation up several gears.
Story continues below
Advertisement

"The race is on to create regional trading gateways to serve international institutional investors, and the drivers are accelerating," Axel Pierron, an analyst at Celent, said.

The proposed mergers fueled a rally in shares of listed exchanges globally. Australia's ASX, which is trying to overcome domestic opposition to a $7.9 billion takeover bid from the Singapore Exchange, rose 4.7 percent.

Aggressive, upstart trading venues have eaten deeply into the market shares of these traditional exchanges, forcing the Big Board, the LSE and others to invest heavily in trading technology and to look to higher-margin areas to grow.

SINGAPORE SLING

SGX's bid for ASX faces major political and regulatory hurdles in Australia, but while many investors said the latest deals appeared to strengthen the case for the tie-up, others said the LSE could now be seen as an alternative partner.

"LSE is clearly making a play on the mining-resources side of things and Asia is in general very resource-hungry, so if Australia wasn't potentially tied up with SGX, which isn't a done deal yet, that would be one option," said Niki Beattie, managing director of consultancy Market Structure Partners.

Both the Australian and London stock exchanges have traditionally attracted a significant number of resource companies to list, including heavyweights such as BHP Billiton.

The LSE's proposed purchase of the Toronto stock market operator would make it the world's fourth largest and a top center for growth sectors of mining and energy, with $4.1 trillion of stock changing hands each year.

"Having seen so many mergers in the global market recently, Australia may better accept the prospect of being part of a larger group and it's paved the way for Australians to accept the reality of today's world," said Magdalene Choong, an analyst at Phillip Securities who has a "buy" rating on SGX.

In contrast, HKEx shares fell by the most in about three months on worries mergers would intensify competition. The Hong Kong exchange has so far avoided any moves to merge because of its strong pipeline of China-backed IPOs.

Other exchanges in Asia have been reluctant to seek tie ups due to tight ownership and political obstacles.

Sports: Eliza Kruger, 17-Year-Old, Allegedly Hooked Up With Mark Sanchez

Last week, Deadspin posted a brief story called "Mark Sanchez's 17-Year-Old Lady Friend Has Found A Lawyer," which was about Mark Sanchez's alleged relationship with a high school student. Deadspin said that the full story would be released on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

The story, published yesterday, said that a 17-year-old, "E.K.," met Sanchez at a Manhattan night club and hooked up with him at his home in New Jersey. Kruger sent pictures of the Jets quarterback's home to confirm her story.

The New York Post reported today that the girl's name is Eliza Kruger. According to Deadspin, Kruger repeatedly talked about how Sanchez is "really a nice guy" and "a genuine person."

If the allegations are true, Sanchez did nothing wrong and broke no laws because the age of consent in New Jersey is 16.

Ask Arie: Would you suggest I start contacting DJs nationally?

Yo Arie, I’ve been pushing my music to local DJs in my city. It’s been somewhat helpful but now I feel like I’m beginning to spin my wheels. Would you suggest I start contacting DJs nationally? - Mike

Ummm yeah Mike you think?! [giggles] As an indie artist you NEVER miss an opportunity to network with people as influential as DJs, NO MATTER where they are. You should’ve been Z-sharing, send spacing (or what ever those file sharing services are called) distant DJs from day one. It never hurts searching for new outlets while building your local fan base and network.

Just remember it's very important to avoid spamming; especially if you’re fortunate to link with DJs that actually have the clout to help introduce you to the masses via their mix-tapes, blogs, radio mixes and so on.

So get networking, start compiling a detailed list of DJs [I recommend excel or other spreadsheet format for easy organization] and it's important to make sure the DJs you're contacting are spinning, scratching and Serato-ing, in whatever genre of music you spit, rap, sing or mine. It would be totally pointless to submit a hip hop track to a rock DJ that specializes in techno… [laughing] Yeah, doing that would make just as much sense as that last sentence. - Best of luck!
