Tiny to be charged with holding pills

T.I. may have skated charges from his September arrest in Los Angeles, but it looks like his Ride Or Die Chick wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle didn’t get off so easy. BOSSIP has just learned that the LAPD plan to charge Tiny with possession of ecstasy.

According to TMZ reports:

L.A. County District Attorney has charged T.I.’s wife — Tameka Cottle — for possessing the drug ecstasy when the couple was arrested on Sunset Strip last month.

If convicted, Tameka could face up to a year behind bars.

Lil Wayne set to be released from prison Nov 4

Lil Wayne is writing furiously in anticipation of his post-prison return to Hip-Hop, family and the free world.

“He hasn’t written out rhymes since the Hot Boys,” Birdman told Rolling Stone in the November edition of the magazine. “There’s a different swagger coming from Wayne, different things to talk about.”

Lil Wayne has served eight months in Rikers Island in New York on weapons charges. The rapper recently was banished to solitary confinement after guards found an mp3 chargers and headphones in his cell, forbidden items considered contraband.

Manager Cortez Bryant said that the new material focus largely on his time incarcerated, life and success.

“He’s had time to take everything in from the years leading up to this to going in,” Bryant said. "He's finally been able to put things in perspective."

When he is released, Birdman aka Baby said Wayne will go straight to the studio to record his new material. Wayne is expected to release Tha Carter IV in early 2011.

“He’s our super superstar, he’s our Michael Jackson.” Birdman said. “We did great while he was gone, and I know we’re going to do even better when he comes home.”

Lil Wayne is set to leave Rikers on Nov. 4. He is expected to spend time with his immediate family and then have a party in Miami.

Sports: Allen Iverson signs with Turkish team

Allen Iverson is taking his talents abroad.

While stars like LeBron James and Chris Bosh headed for South Beach and Amare Stoudemire decided to star on Broadway, Iverson, a pint-sized former MVP and scoring champion, couldn’t find a suitable home in the NBA.

So, he’s headed for Turkey.

“My whole thing was being wanted, being accepted by a ballclub. That was the most important thing,” Iverson said Friday in Manhattan after signing a $4 million, two-year contract with Turkish club Besiktas.

“I had a great time playing in the NBA. Who knows if I ever will again? But I wanted to show everybody I can play at a high level, not just the NBA.”

Iverson, an 11-time All-Star, waited all offseason for an NBA team to come calling, but none ever did. So he began looking at other leagues.

He ultimately decided the Istanbul-based club was the best fit.

“I feel like it’s a fresh start for me, and I just thank all these guys for giving me the opportunity,” Iverson said, “a chance to get back on track with my basketball career.”

Nicki Minaj x Eminem on Pink Friday album

See larger image

Nicki Minaj has confirmed that she is going to hook up with Eminem in a track on her upcoming debut album "Pink Friday". The Young Money first lady will have her alter ego, Roman Zolanski, going head to head with the Slim Shady.

"It was Roman ... and it was Slim Shady," she told MTV. "The real Slim Shady. It was the most fun song on Pink Friday. It gave me life. Absolutely, darling." The duet track is titled "Roman's Revenge" and comes from production hands of Swizz Beatz.

In further statement, Minaj recalled how she reached out to Eminem to propose the duet. "We went out on a whim and put it in the air like, 'It'd be great if he would collaborate with us'," she said. "I remember I kept talking about it, and I thought, 'It can't hurt.' I sent him one record, and he didn't love it."

"He didn't say, 'I don't love it'; he just said, 'Can you send me something that's a little more me?' I sent him an e-mail and thanked him for that, just having enough respect. Sometimes people don't respond. He had the respect, at least, to treat me like a peer."

From there, the femcee chose the Swizz Beatz production cut. She actually didn't want any additional verses because she thought it's good with her riding solo. However, she sent it to Eminem and "he picked up the phone for that one." Now that the the Slim Shady joins her in it, she feels more excited.

While Nicki Minaj is hard at work preparing her album which is due November 22 in the United States, Eminem plans to "take a break" following hectic years of "Relapse" and "Recovery". However, he is still open to help other artists work on their project. "I'm in the studio with [Dr.] Dre now, let's jus say that," he said in a radio interview. "Pretty soon he's going to make a beat and I might rap on it." He added, "I'm glad I could be a part of something."

T.I. Won’t Be Charged In L.A. Drug Arrest, Still Guilty Of Parole Violation

TMZ reports:

According to the D.A.’s Office, they are not going forward with charges because, in essence, he’s already been sentenced to prison since the arrest was a violation of his federal probation.

However, law enforcement sources tell TMZ, there were significant legal issues over probable cause which led to T.I.’s arrest.

Cops claimed they smelled marijuana but no pot was ever booked into evidence. And, we’re told… T.I. was pulled out of his $250,000 Maybach immediately after he made the illegal U-turn and prior to any registration check.

Camron upset with Mase over no show at Huddy 6 funeral

Killa is none too pleased with his Children of the Corn mate for not paying respects to the fallen Harlem World member.

In the mid-to-late 1990s, Cam'ron joined Big L, Herb McGruff, Bloodshed and Murda Mase in Children of the Corn. The Harlem quartet, produced by early Cam'ron producer Digga, would never surface into the mainstream as a unit, however three of the four members secured major label solo deals. Early this morning, Cam'ron called out former rhyme partner Mase over his absense at former protege, Huddy 6's funeral.

Jay Z says hip hop needs love

"You know in more than one way cocaine numbs the brain/All I did was think about how the funds once came. Then I ran across this memory and it stung the brain/How can you ever destroy the beauty from which one came. That's a savage, you're the reason why me and these beats make a marriage/why I rhyme above average and I ain't sh*t. Glad you got yourself together no thanks to me/Strong and beautiful the way thangs should be/You must love me." - Jay-Z

When Jay-Z rapped about love on his 1997 song "You Must Love Me." He was talking about the kind of unconditional love only a mother, brother or girlfriend can offer a person who's doing wrong and knows it, but can't stay away from hustling.

Fast forward to today. Hov feels like the rap game is in a similar situation. A lot of rappers are just following trends. Making ring tone garbage most people won't remember ten years from now. With only a handful of artists still working hard to not just sell records for right now, but also doing their best to make songs that will stand the test of time.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jigga talked about what the rap game's been missing.

"For us, this is the music that saved a generation. So there's a big responsibility for those who it saved to make sure that thing is intact for the next generation. We're the first generation that really took advantage of it, starting with Puff [Daddy] and Master P, guys who really made a name and became successful as entrepreneurs,

Even more than that, when you're under attack so much as a genre [as hip hop is], you're forced to come together. But probably the last time we really came together on something was working for Obama, lending our voice and the people we had toward that campaign. Whether he does a great job or not is almost secondary to what it did for the dreams and the hopes of an entire race. Just based on that alone, it's a success, the biggest we've had. Period. To date. It's Martin Luther King's dream realized. Tangible. In the flesh. You can shake his hand.

We have to find our way back to true emotion. This is going to sound so sappy, but love is the only thing that stands the test of time. "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" was all about love. Andre 3000, "The Love Below." Even NWA, at its core, that was about love for a neighborhood.

We're chasing a lot of sounds now, but I'm not hearing anyone's real voice. The emotion of where you are in your life. The mortgage scandal. People losing their jobs. I want to hear about that."

Hip Hop is definitely not dead, even though Nas tried to bury it several years ago. It just needs a shot in the arm to get it going back in the right direction again.

Hip hop from the 80's and early 90's

I can remember sitting in my room taping the hottest songs like Run DMC and LL Cool J. I couldn't wait for the next hip hop song to come out so I could tape it and play it outside. Those were the days that hip hop first started going platinum and people really love the culture and music. Fast forward to 2010, everybody is in it for the money and the music is just plain bad. Everyone is talking about chains, cars and money. Not everybody is interested in that. The difference between now and then is there was much more variety. I can still listen to a lot of the music from the 80's but I don't think the hip hop in 2010 will be around 20 years from now. People will forget about it. I'm not saying every song is bad but a lot of it is. Everyone is just copying what works and I hope things change and somebody steps up and tries something new and different.

Hip hop news: T.I is dropped as Axe spokesperson

Rap star T.I. has officially lost his gig as a spokesman for AXE body spray, just days after he was sentenced to 11 months in prison for violating the terms of his federal probation.

TMZ.com reports that AXE will "no longer feature T.I. in our promotional campaign" and has already removed the Grammy Award winning rapper from their official website.

A federal judge sentenced T.I. to 11 months in prison on Friday (October 15th), after he and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle was found to be in possession of ecstasy after a traffic stop on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles on September 1st.

Yesterday (October 18th), T.I. appeared on Ryan Cameron's V103 radio show, where he discussed his pending jail sentence. The rap star vowed to never return to prison after his latest, upcoming stint in federal prison.

"I'm gonna take it a day at a time," T.I. explained. "I got a little while to plan. One thing I'm not gonna do is, I'm not gonna talk and make a whole lot of promises and do this or do that. I'm gonna speak more through my music and my actions. And I'm gonna let God lead me wherever that may be."

Roc-A-Fella Co-Founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke Arrested on Federal Drug Charges

“You let your shit bubble quietly…then you blow!”

To call Kareem “Biggs” Burke a “silent partner” would be an understatement. Throughout the roughly 10 year reign of Roc-A-Fella Records, the general public probably heard this guy open his mouth once or twice, if that. I actually spoke to him on the phone a couple of times, and he seemed like a good dude. In any event, it looks like the Feds are gonna be trying to get him to spill his guts:

The NY Post reports:

Kareem “Biggs” Burke, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, which launched the career of superstar rapper Jay-Z, was among 43 people arrested today in a massive drug sweep spanning from New York to South Florida, authorities said.

Also nabbed was Matthew Stang, a writer and senior ad rep at High Times magazine, a well-known chronicle of chronic culture.
“In the case of the High Times employee, it’s a case of art imiitiating real life,” said Jim Hayes special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Burke was nabbed early this morning by ICE agents at his home in North Bergen, NJ, Hayes said.
The 18-month investigation into the vast narcotics network – headed by Geovanny “Manny” Rodriguez Perez – resulted in $1 million in seized profits and 177 pounds of marijuana, Hayes said.
At least another seven people are expected to be arrested as a result of the operation, dubbed “Green Venom,” he said. Investigators used state and federal wiretaps to catch the drug smugglers, authorities said.

Black Rob signs with Duck Down records

Former Bad Boy Records artist Black Rob is poised to return to the Hip-Hop game with a new album being released via popular independent label, Duck Down Records.

The rapper, who was released from prison after serving four years in May over a grand larceny charge, is back in the studio recording material for Game Tested & Street Approved, which is due in stores in 2011 via Duck Down.

According to Black Rob, Game Tested and Street Approved is a "testimony of what I stand for and how I feel."

"The people have been asking for true Hip-Hop music, and that's what I'm giving them," Black Rob stated. "I stayed away from features. I've been away for 4 joints, so I feel the people deserve to hear me. When I came home, I went right to work, and didn't have time to reach out to cats. On my next project you will get that. As for producers, I have some up-and-coming cats on there. I believe in giving cats a chance. As far as named producers you may hear a joint or two from Buckwild, Self Service, Bishop, Scram Jones and Pete Rock."

Game Tested and Street Approved is Black Rob's first album in over five years.

His sophomore album The Black Rob Report was released in 2005 and has moved over 100,000 units to date.

His Bad Boy debut, Life Story, moved over 1 million units, based on the hit single "Whoa!"

The rapper will perform new material from his Duck Down debut at the Duck Down VS Blacksmith showcase on October 19th at Le Poisson Rouge in New York during the CMJ Music Marathon.

"If I'm going independent why not go with a team I respect, and they have always had a true family setting & environment," Black Rob said of his decision to sign with Duck Down Records.

Virgin: (Another) small step for man, one giant leap for space tourism

Forget about the Cold War space race between the US and the USSR. The contemporary space race has long since gone commercial, with companies such as Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, Elon Musks’ Space X, and Space Adventures competing to offer space tourism. Thus far, only the latter has taken paying customers to space (including our own Afronaut, Mark Shuttleworth). But with VSS Enterprise’s first manned test flight on Sunday, now it’s Branson’s venture that’s back in the headlines, which is just the way he likes it.

On Sunday 10 October, Virgin Galactic tested its SpaceShipTwo (SS2) model VSS Enterprise on its first manned solo glide flight. The mission was to assess the spacecraft’s ability to return back to Earth, and yes, it was accomplished. The craft was carried into space between the two fuselages of the four-engined mothership, a WhiteKnightTwo (WK2) model called Eve. VSS Enterprise went up to a height of 13.7 kilometres (about 45,000 feet). The flight was unpowered, with the pilots gliding the spacecraft back to Earth, and lasted about 11 minutes after the vehicle went solo.

Scaled Composites, the company that developed WK2 and SS2, already had stellar credentials before it hooked up with Virgin Galactic in 2005 – the previous year had it won the Ansari X Prize for its SpaceShipOne (SS1). On 21 June, 2004, SS1 became the first manned private vehicle to fly into space (incidentally, funded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen), and thus scooped up $10 million in prize money. Small change when it comes to manufacturing spaceships, but priceless if it attracts the attention of Branson.

Virgin Galactic and Scaled Composites formed a joint venture in 2005, called The Space Company, and Virgin will have sole rights to use the firm’s technology for the first 18 months of commercial space flights. The ongoing development of SS2 is, of course, part of the grand plan of implementing space tourism, and the weekend’s test flight played an important part in this. According to a statement by Virgin, the goals of the VSS Enterprise flight were to characterise the release dynamics, make an evaluation of handling characteristics, to see if stability and control compared with the simulation predictions and to carry out a descent to landing.

Watch: VSS Enterprise Manned Free Flight Test

Preliminary video footage shows the release to have been smooth and the landing at Mojave Air and Space Port, California appeared to be trouble-free. More extensive analysis is yet to be conducted, but both Scaled Composites and Virgin have said that all aspects of the flight – handling, flight controls and release mechanism – worked exactly as they were expected to. They would say that, but whatever expert analysis reveals, the flight certainly went better than a 2007 SS2 fuel flow test, which resulted in an explosion that killed three people.

Of course, spaceships are in their infancy, and more intensive and risky tests will need to be conducted before passengers are let on board, although Branson has suggested that paying customers could take up their places as early as late next year.
The chief executive of Virgin Galactic, George Whitesides, the erstwhile chief of staff at Nasa, said that finishing the experimental programme would be the biggest challenge. This involves, among other hurdles, getting a Federal Aviation Administration licence and starting the service from New Mexico’s Spaceport America soon. The inauguration for Spaceport America is to be held on October 22.

Considering that Space Adventures has halted its fledging space tourism programme until at least 2012, as well as the fact that tickets for VSS Enterprise are reasonably priced (what’s a couple of hundred thousand dollars, compared with a couple of million?), it looks as if the next men or women to visit space might just be flying the Virgin flag. If so, they’ll be in good company. Branson, of course, has reserved his ticket, and you can be sure that he wishes his company’s first space tourism flight would hurry up and take off already. DM

Cash Money CEO Baby Accused By Team Owner Of Lying About Becoming Part Owner Of Miami Dolphins: ''I Have NEVER Spoken To Him''

HipHopWired reports: Bryan “Birdman” Williams is being called out by a Florida reporter who says he lied about seeking ownership of the Miami Dolphins.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald wrote an article on Birdman after hearing an interview with Shade 45's Angela Yee where he stated that he was seeking minority ownership of the NFL team.

The rapper told Yee,

“It's in [the] works...You have to get clearance from the NFL and we're waiting for clearance. Once we get clearance, we good."

After contacting the NFL to verify the rapper's upcoming ownership deal, Salguero reports that a spokesman confirmed that he has no knowledge of any approval process for Birdman.

Furthermore the reporter contacted Dolphins owner Stephen Ross who denied having any involvement with the emcee.

"I have NEVER spoken to him or any representative," Ross said in a statement released by the team. "Not considering or looking for any celebrity limited partners."

Salguero ended his piece on Birdman saying,

“Thanks for the wild goose chase.”

TI going back to prison but for how long this time

Prison time for T.I. is inevitable, although prosecutors and defense lawyers representing the rap star are arguing in court over how much time he should spend in prison for violating his probation.

According to reports, T.I.'s probation officer has recommended a sentence of eight to 14 months in prison, while lawyers for the rapper countered that at most, T.I. should be sent to prison for 5 to 11 months.

At 2:00 PM on October 15th, T.I. will find out just how much time he will spend behind bars, for violating the terms of his probation on September 1st in Los Angeles.

Police stopped the rapper around 10:45PM on the Sunset Strip, after he made an illegal U-turn in his Maybach.

A search of the occupants revealed that T.I. and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle were carrying a controlled substance, later identified as ecstasy.

Additionally, T.I. tested positive for drugs during a test conducted after the traffic stop.

T.I. was on probation after being released from prison last March, after serving a year for attempting to purchase machine guns and silencers in October of 2007, just before the BET Awards.

Beanie Sigel may be in a bit of trouble with the Feds over tax evasion

PHILADELPHIA — Rapper Beanie Sigel (SEE'-gul) is facing criminal charges for alleged tax fraud.

Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia say the entertainer born Dwight Grant made $1.5 million from 2002 to 2004, but filed no tax returns.

Sigel has served time on drug and weapons charges, and for prescription drug use while on federal probation. But he has also led anti-violence rallies in his hometown and spoken to high school students about life choices.

Sigel's albums include "The Truth," "The B. Coming" and "The Solution."

The tax charges come in a federal information filed Wednesday. That typically indicates a defendant's cooperation. Sigel's lawyer did not immediately return a call for comment.

Drake interview with thisis50.com talks Young Money, success and more

Thisis50: We've been following you since your early mixtape days- How has Drake evolved as an artist from the release of "So Far Gone," to this point in your career now?

Drake: Well obviously I understand a lot more about the business. But also just the purpose with which I create music, there's different elements to create for now...like for example I'm thinking about performing a record when I'm making it, I'm thinking about hearing it back on the radio a bunch of times when I'm making it and like what it takes to catch the attention of a listener on the radio. It's just different. Now with the success and now that the world has heard my voice and wants to hear more of it, I create music now with a bit more of a purpose and not to say its any less organic than it used to be, I just think a little more with my creative process.

__
Thisis50: Coming From Toronto- Did you ever think you would have the mainstream success that you have now?

Drake: I know I prayed for it, I hoped for it...It was a bit far-fetched at the time. The only people that we had prior to that was like Maestro, Kardinall...we had people, but never that reached the levels that I saw for myself in my head. It was like one of those things where I was like I don't know if they'll let someone from Toronto into the game like that, but nevertheless it happened and I'm happy it did.
__
Thisis50: What was the one turning point or moment in your career when you realized "Wow...I'm a Superstar?"

Drake: I think it was gradual. I don't think it was like one specific day or anything. I think it was just like, the more I noticed man I'm taking car services everywhere, and damn i got a security guard, OK now I got 2 security guards, I got my own tour bus, I'm not opening up anymore, I'm headlining on this tour, and it kept growing and growing, and its still growing right now. Everyday seems like something new to me, all i do is take it a day at a time and try to deal with every situation individually as best as I can , and just grow through every situation that they put me in.
__
Thisis50: How big of a role has Lil Wayne played in your career?

Drake: Lil Wayne is the reason I'm here. He gave me the opportunity and the platform and let me join the team. Lil Wayne is definitely the key to my success at this point.

__
Thisis50: Lil Wayne is being released from jail on November 4th- What are you most looking forward to upon his release?

Drake: I'm looking forward to the fact that..I just want to see him on the outside free to do whatever he wants. When someone you love and respect has been put in a situation like that, you just want to see them happy. And aside from that the thing im most looking forward to when he gets out is getting back in the studio and making music.
__
Thisis50: You've worked with some of the biggest names to ever step into the hip-hop game such as Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West...Is there any artist out there that you haven't worked with that you would love to do something with?

Drake: Yeah I would really love to work with Beyonce...that's something I'm looking forward to. I hope that happens soon. I would love to work with MGMT, I haven't worked with them yet. I would love to do some work with them. And I can't forget Andre 3000.
__
Thisis50: What's something about Drake that your fans would be surprised to know or wouldn't necessarily expect from you?

Drake: I DJ. That's my new hobby. I've been djing. We're on tour right now, so we'll throw little private after parties and I'll dj the party. The other night I didn't dj that well but I've had some good nights.
__
Thisis50: What's one thing in the music industry that you can do without?

Drake: I mean, it's all encompassing, thats the problem.Like I could tell you I could do without the hating and without the jealousy, but sometimes people hating on you and people being jealous of you makes for great music. But I can do without the women with motives.

Thisis50: There's been a bunch of big name crews to come up in the game such as The Firm, Wu-Tang, Roc a Fella, Bad Boy, G-Unit. How would you compare Young Money's rise to fame to those prior?

Drake: I think that's yet to be seen. I think Young Money's doing great right now. But I think the key with the names you just mentioned is longevity. I think the cool thing about Young Money is that we're not really a group. We all thrive individually. And I think that's gonna have an effect on how long we last and I think we'll be able to last longer because we all do separate things individually. Its not like anyone has to conform to what someone else does because we're in a group. So I think being individuals, but being on a team plays to our benefit.

Thisis50: Let's get into your deal with Kodak. How did that come about and what does it mean to you to be "So Kodak?"

Drake: Kodak is launching their new easy share digital camera. They wanted some young faces to represent the brand, and I happen to be one of them along with Trey Songz, along with Pitbull, and the lovely Rihanna. To be "So Kodak" is about having moments that are worth remembering and worth sharing and right now that's what our lives are comprised of.

Thisis50: What's next for Drake? What can we expect in the months to come?

Drake: I got a mixtape called "It's Never Enough." It's really just for the people. Its for the people to get em through those cold winter months, get em through the holidays and then you can expect an album from me. You can expect the single sometime early mid next year. I'm very excited about it. I got a working title and I got a sound that I'm very excited about.

Thisis50: Do you have any movies coming up that we can expect to see you in?

Drake: Yea I'm reading for some movies now...like screen testing and auditioning so hopefully I find the right role for me and you'll see them.
__
Thisis50: Any final words, or anything you want the fans to know about Drake?

Drake: Just shout out to everybody for showing love and enjoying life. I appreciate it and I just hope you keep listening because I'm still growing, and I still got more to give. So shout to all my fans, and everybody, Thisis50.com, I appreciate it. Shoutout to 50 too..for real.

Lupe Fiasco having label trouble album may not drop

Lupe Fiasco
has been fighting hard to get his forthcoming album Lasers released from under Atlantic's thumb. Recently Lu discussed what the hold up was, and he explains Atlantic tried to force him to sign a less than favorable contract.

Lupe claims Atlantic insisted he sign a 360 deal, which included they take 25% from his shows, any outside deals and original music. After he declined the offer, Lu states Atlantic then threatened to not give hiim money for music videos
or give him any promo on the radio.

Lu also said the label simply thinks he's wack. There's no telling for a timeline of the release of Lasers, if it gets released.

Necolebitchie.com says 50 cent may be dating Chelsea Handler

Things between late night talk show host Chelsea Handler and her pretend “boyfriend” 50 Cent may be heating up, according to eyewitnesses in New Orleans this weekend.

Now, let me begin by saying that Chelsea loves herself some rappers (on the low) but she’s also very sarcastic so when I first heard she was really dating 50 cent, I brushed it off. I mean, as long as she keeps her hands off of my Ricky Rozay we are good. Anyway, On a recent show of hers, she told her guests “Everybody knows I’m trying to go black HARD. Me and 50 are working something out!”. She also revealed that 50 had just sent her flowers to the studio. Days later while promoting one of her comedy shows on the radio, she revealed that he called and left her a voicemail that said “Hey This is 50, I just want you to know that I was serious about asking you out. Just wanted to know if you are single”. At the time, she was in a relationship but she recently broke up with her boyfriend

….and possibly took 50 Cent up on his offer
