Jay-Z is the king of subliminal disses. Most of the time, rappers and fans have to dissect his lyrics trying to figure out who he is going at. But Hov obviously wasn't too worried about MC Hammer replying back to his diss on Kanye West's "So Appalled" record, because he mentioned him by name.
“Hammer went broke so you know I'm more focused. I lost 30 mill, so I spent another 30 / ’cause unlike Hammer, 30 mill can’t hurt me.” Jigga spit on the track.
Well, Hammer was listening and he's heated. Replying to Jay, both on Twitter and on film by releasing a video showing him hitting a punching bag
"Warming up... all substance.. no hype... What's the rhyme that can make you tough??? Yeah.. Ok... thats what I thought.. Slap the taste out them #HellBoys mouths... #IamHammer," is written in the video description.
"Hellboy" is the nickname Hammer has given Jay-Z, possibly referring to rumors that Hov is a satanist.
One of the most charismatic British mic wielders ever to grace a stage, Mighty MysDiggi never fails to impress with his brand of mischievous humour and energetic flows. With intriguingly titled new project Digmund Freud in the bag it seemed appropriate to get inside the head of the man.
People probably know you best for your ‘Music Mystro’ EP/LP on Low Life. Where you happy with how that was received?
Mystro: Yeah for the most part I was, though I guess it could have gone further from the response I keep getting even now. The only thing I didn't like was how they tried to put out a CD version with extra tracks that had already been released and then call it an album, that was a bad representation of myself and cheating the consumer in my opinion, but hey, you live and you learn... right?
Can you break down what projects you’ve been involved with since then for the people who may not know?
MystroMystro: Well my last project was the 'F.D.T. EP' which I put out as a digital release on my own label Don't Bizznizz and I've done 2 mix-tapes 'Tip Of Da Mysberg' Vol.1&2, did a compilation LP called 'Diggi Down Unda' featuring producers, singers & rappers from Australia & New Zealand, featured on various LP's: Blak Twang's 'The Kick Off', Rodney P's 'The Future', P-Money's 'Magic City', Main Flow's 'Hiphopulation', Hilltop Hoods 'The Hard Road', Ty's 'Special Kind Of Fool', Colin Emmanuel aka Black Einstein's 'D'Illusions Of Grandeur' , probably a bunch of others I can't remember right now but we can add the 'Digmund Freud EP' to that now.
I first heard you on Kiss That Arse Goodnight which came out a long time ago. How has the scene changed since then?
Mystro: Haha I'm sure everybody knows how much it's changed because all the record shops have gone, there's not as many live Hip Hop nights as there used to be and the Internet is more or less as powerful as TV & radio now a days. My first single which you just mentioned came out at the end of 1999 so I've been around for just over ten years releasing material, many consider me to be a veteran but I'm not sure I'm worthy of that status yet considering I haven't released a proper debut LP but that's not for me to say I guess. The thing's I've noticed more so than the obvious regarding change is the attitudes in a lot of the people I've either worked with or have observed in the scene, before people were a lot younger and probably had less responsibilities so maybe it was easier to deal with then, where as now a lot of people have more bills to pay, family etc and this I guess doesn't make being an artist as fun as when all you had to worry about was making sure you got to the studio on time and had enough money for a draw with you. Also with the decline in music sales as well as mainstream interest in regular Hip Hop I guess a lot of people got ticked off with the scene and are fed up with it now. Not everybody though mind you, but that's the general vibe I get and I can't blame them but I still get enjoyment out of this so I can't see me giving up just yet, especially after learning how to unleash my inner Digmund Freud on the masses.
Low Life had a good run of great records but there was a lot of controversy surrounding the break down of the label, what was your experience of that?
Mystro: I saw a lot of shady stuff but wasn't clued up to it as I never got involved too heavy on the business side, a mistake I know not to make again, but often I hear things chatting to other people who were releasing material on the label and I'll be like "oh that's why so & so happened...I get it now"... in hindsight of course. For all the bad things I heard about the guy who owned the label from other people, I could never get involved because nothing had ever happened to me, or so I thought. But when I felt disrespected that was it for me, I realized all these people complaining about Low Life can't be crazy/wrong, and now I know for sure that he was a slimy, slippery snake who not only lied to artists who contributed to making the label what it was, but also the public who unknowingly supported his fake persona of an equality loving, righteous freedom fighter who claims to hate the cooperate world, but does the same thing as they would just on a smaller scale.
You've got to understand that the owner of Low Life was releasing material from some of the best the UK had to offer, was also pressing records for majority of the scene as a whole because he was an agent for a pressing plant, and was an artist/producer himself, so you think of the slimiest, most shadiest stuff you could do with all that power to make a bit a lot money and run off...and he probably did it. What's sad though is the number of innocent & work driven people this guy decided to rip off out of greed, from making sure other artists/labels pressings weren't as good as your labels stuff, to making the plant you used to work for become bankrupt, to up until now STILL owing all these artists you claim to 'respect' royalties & sales money since 2007. But as I said before, you live and you learn, the message on my new EP is "If it ain't life or death don't worry about it.." , what doesn't kill you should only make you stronger, this guy has run off to Australia as a loner with no friends just a resort in India, and we are still here and now have full control of our own destiny so it's up to us to make things right and the way they're supposed to be... if you don't believe me ask Digmund Freud, he always has on a "F Da Taxman" tee-shirt on under that suit.
Who are your favourite emcees out right now?
MystroMystro: Jargon, Crooked I, Ramson Badbonez, Elzhi, Black The Ripper, Homeboy Sandman, Loudmouth Melvin, Vado, Black Thought, Blu, Skandal & Stig Of The Dump.
Don’t Flop seems to divide opinion, what are your thoughts on it and would you ever enter?
Mystro: I think it's cool man, you know it's an evolution of what battling used to be about, not everybody is a great freestyle artist so coming off the top is harder for some than others, I don't consider myself a good freestyle rapper but I will if I have to, when I was doing it you had some written stuff but then you'd have to make up some stuff on the spot to add to the fire, so it's not that much of a difference apart from the whole research thing which is cool but for an observer who doesn't know who you are that could be baffling. I think it gives kids who may be technically great writers a chance to shine on the battle circuit even if they don't have freestyle skills as sharp as others. It's not far off from writing a diss track in my eyes. I've had the itch to do it but a few things I've scene have made me think maybe it's best to leave that to the new breed especially when I've got like 10 years history on me, it's kind of like a head start if I've never heard of you.
Who are you favourite producers to work with?
Mystro: I've enjoyed working with all the producers I've worked with but the guys I think have brought the best out of me so far are Black Einstein aka Colin Emmanuel, Alan Mawdsley & Yesking who are Rhys Adams & Mark Rae.
What record are you most proud of and why?
Mystro: Probably the 'F.D.T. EP' I did last year because I wrote it in about a month and it was around the time I nearly felt like packing it in but the release turned everything around and made me realize all I needed to do was continue releasing music I liked making, and not watch what other people think too much, I say this because many made me feel like there wasn't much space for regular Hip Hop anymore on radio etc but I've seen it a bit differently form my point of view and I guess the transition from feeling like that before and now a lot more positive has brought out the Digmund Freud in me, check the EP and you'll see what I mean I'm sure, hopefully it can bring out the Digmund Freud in all of us.
What’s your least favourite genre of music and why?
Mystro: Probably hard techno glitch house, I think that's what they call it right?... I don't know but it all sounds the same to me and I guess that's why I was never really a hardcore garage head, I liked drum n bass but then that got too noisy for me as well, I like some grime & and don't mind some Dub Step when I'm out gate-crashing parties so all in all I guess I don't mind hearing a synthetic sound but it's just that after a while it doesn't resonate well with the voices in my head. Don't blame me; blame the music I grew up on Mutha Luavz.
Would you be interested in seeing a Drake and J. Cole battle. Who would win? J. Cole made some comments about Drake and I remember when he said him and Drake are not in positions to be best friends. Are these two guys gonna go head to head? I don't think so but I'm looking forward to hearing more slick talk. I can't front, I would like to see a battle on record.
Shad’s originality surfaced in the industry, through his independent persistence. His first album was financed with money he won from a radio contest. As his first album caught on, he was eventually signed by Black Box Recordings. Presently, Shad is selling out shows and touring with K’naan.
The Early Risers Collective was recently given the opportunity to interview Shad. This collective consists of teenagers from Vancouver B.C., who are learning how to create their own media, business, apparel, and events. Throughout the Summer, they studied t-shirt design and learned about creative business from local artists.
I’ve been meaning to make this post for a min. I found some footage online from the 2010 Red Bull Emsee event that took place in Atlanta, around the end of August 2010.
As I walked in the venue, 4-Ize and Stahhr were matched up for round one. Before the emcees could start though, everyone in the venue (including the emcees) would get to see a large projection screen which consisted of images that the emcees had to incorporate into their verse. There were 5 images to mention within a minutes time. All emcees were judged on their flow, delivery, etc. DJ/Producer Don Cannon, Manchild (2009 Red Bull Emsee Champ), and Bun B served as the guest judges for the evening.
The Ray Charles Memorial Library officially opened its doors Thursday night. Housed in the studio and office building Charles built in South Los Angeles in the early 1960s, the library features interactive exhibits about the musician's life and career.
Charles' friends and colleagues — including Quincy Jones, B.B. King, producer Jimmy Jam and filmmaker Taylor Hackford — welcome visitors via video to each section of the library, which is more like an interactive museum. Touch screens invite guests to explore Charles' most memorable recordings, while exhibits feature some of his Grammy awards, stage costumes, old contracts and ever-present sunglasses.
Charles' fans can see his personal piano and saxophone, his collection of microphones and letters he received from Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Johnny Cash. The library also includes a mixing station, where visitors can compose their own mixes of Charles' classic rhythms and melodies, and a karaoke room, where they can sing along with Charles and the Raelettes.
"Ray spent more time in this building than any other in the world," said Tony Gumina, head of the Ray Charles Marketing Group. "In this building, Ray Charles had 20-20 vision."
His recording studio and a closet full of his clothes remain on the second floor of the building, which was declared a cultural and historic landmark by the city in 2004.
When Charles lost his sight as a child, his ears became his eyes, he said, and he dedicated himself to music, eventually blending genres and breaking down barriers both social and musical.
Willie Nelson said Charles "caused country music to leap ahead — maybe 50 years — because he'd done the impossible: He'd crossed over the other way."
A collection of previously unreleased Charles recordings, including a country collaboration with Cash, is due out next month.
Hackford, who directed the 2004 biopic "Ray," called Charles "one of the greatest musicians this country has ever produced."
Hackford and former Raelette Mable John were among those celebrating the library's grand opening.
The facility is a product of Charles' charitable foundation, which he established in 1986 to serve the hearing impaired. Though Charles was blind, he felt that not being able to hear music would be a true handicap. When he died in 2004 at age 73, he left all of his intellectual property and $50 million in cash to continue the foundation's efforts.
The Ray Charles Foundation also provides grants to support hearing disorder and educational causes. The library's main aim is to educate and inspire disenfranchised children who have seen arts education cut from their school curricula, said library and foundation president Valerie Ervin.
The library will be open exclusively to school children by invitation only. Officials plan to extend access to the general public sometime next year.
Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z is one of 15 entrepreneurs Forbes magazine has predicted will be worth a billion dollars by the year 2015.
Jay-Z was named amongst an elite group of tech moguls, hedge-funders, athletes and entertainers who all have a chance of breaking into the Forbes 400 this decade.
According to Forbes, Jay-Z has a total worth of $450 million, through his Roc Nation label, his catalog, which returns to him in 2014, Rocawear and a stake in the New Jersey Nets.
The rap star/mogul was listed alongside movers and shakers like Facebook's Sean Parker ($900 million), Marc Pincus (Zynga $850 million), producer Jerry Bruckheimer ($850 million), Jerry Seinfeld ($800 million) and others.
Others on the list include: Eric Lefkofsky of Groupon ($750 million), hedge fund manager William Ackman ($700 million), Dennis Gillings of Quintiles ($700 million), Ray R. Irani of Occidental Petroleum ($700 million), movie producer James Cameron ($650 million), Michael Jordan ($500 million), Tiger Woods ($500 million), Craig Newmark of Craigslist ($400 million), Tyler Perry ($350 million) and Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn ($340 million).
Jay-Z met up with Forbes' billionaire founder and CEO/Editor-in-Chief Steve Forbes and fellow billionaire investor Warren Buffett to discuss his success.
"That was the greatest trick in music that people ever pulled off, to convince artists that you can't be an artist and make money," Jay-Z told Forbes about his tremendous success as an artist and business man. I think the people that were making the millions said that. It was almost shameful, especially in rock 'n' roll.
"Here you got these millionaire guys who had to pretend as if they weren't successful at all or it would be like a detriment to their career. Hip-hop from the beginning has always been aspirational," Jay-Z continued. "It always broke that notion that an artist can't think about money as well. Just so long as you separate the two and you're not making music with business in mind. At some point it has to be real when they touch it, when they listen to it. Something has to resonate with them that's real. When you're in the studio you're an artist, you make music, and then after you finish, you market it to the world. I don't think anything is wrong with that. In fact, I know there's nothing wrong with that."
Warren Buffett, 80, echoed Jay-Z's comments during the inaugural Forbes 400 Summit, which took place earlier this month at a restaurant near Buffett's Berkshire-Hathaway offices in Ohama, Nebraska.
"Jay said it perfectly when he talked about how he's in there recording for himself, and the money comes afterwards," Buffett said. "I got to do what I love, and it doesn't get any luckier than that. I would be doing what I do now and I would've done it in the past if the payoff had been in seashells, or sharks' teeth, or anything else."
Rick Ross has replied to reports after a sex tape allegedly featuring the rapper and an unidentified woman hit the Internet.

SMH. The sh*t has officially hit the fan for Floyd Mayweather. He has been hit with 8 charges related to the incident last week with his baby mama.
According to TMZ reports:
Floyd Mayweather Jr. has officially been charged with felony counts of coercion, robbery and grand larceny — as well as four misdemeanors — for the alleged domestic incident with his baby mama in Las Vegas. According to the Clark County District Attorney the misdemeanors are battery, and three counts of harassment.
As we first reported, Josie Harris claims the boxer beat her, threatened to kill her, and stole her cell phone during the alleged incident on September 9.
The coercion and harassment counts include alleged threats Mayweather made against his sons. According to the docs, the boxer threatened to beat his kids’ asses if they “called 911 and/or left the residence.”
If convicted of all charges, Floyd could spend up to 28 years behind bars.
SMH, this is some REAL mess… 50 Cent has been riding hard for Floyd ever since these allegations emerged, saying Josie Harris is just jealous because Floyd plans to marry some new broad, but the fact that the prosecutor is going through with these charges definitely gives Harris some kind of credibility, doesn’t it?
Still something seems kinda off with the charges. How you gonna hit that man with misdemeanor battery and harassment and FELONY coercion, robbery and grand larceny? Really now — GRAND LARCENY for taking the woman’s iPhone?
If you have been following the Chelsea lately story of the sextape, come to find out its not real. She says she made it as a joke cause she is a comedian check the vid below and tell us what you think.
Eminem and Jay-Z make concert history at Yankee Stadium, bringing to the stage everyone from Dr. Dre to Kanye West.
Last night marked the first of Eminem and Jay-Z's two sold-out performances at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx. Th performance was a star-studded event that found Hip Hop's two reigning titans sharing the stage with a plethora of guest artists.
"I got to tell y'all, it's one of the most wonderful things being here tonight, being from New York City and being in Yankee Stadium," said Hova. (Wall Street Journal)
Eminem added to Jay's elation, saying, "Do not think that I don't know where I'm at right now. I'm also honored to be on this fuckin' stage in the Bronx, the fuckin' birthplace of Hip Hop." (Wall Street Journal)
Roc Nation up-and-comer J. Cole opened up the show, with Em following shortly after. The Detroit rapper performed his current smash-hits "Love the Way You Lie" and "Not Afraid" and a number of classics tracks from his discography, including "Lose Yourself," "Cleaning Out My Closet" and "Without Me". Em also brought to the stage a number of guests, including D12, 50 Cent, B.o.B and his mentor Dr. Dre.
"I missed you motherfuckers, did you miss me?" he said to the massive crowd. "It feels so good to be back." (Wall Street Journal)
Not to be outdone, Jay-Z's set found the Brooklyn emcee banging out hits like "99 Problems" and "Hard Knock Life" much to the concert goers' approval. Jay also brought out a number of his friends, including Swizz Beatz, Drake, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Beyonce and of course, Eminem, who joined Jay in performing their classic cut off The Blueprint "Renegade".
One of the most talked about guest performances came from Kanye West, who performed the remix to his hit single "Power" along side his big brother. Nicki Minaj also joined the two artists on stage to perform their much talked about collaboration "Monster."
"This is historic," said Jay. "They ain't never gonna be another night like tonight." (Wall Street Journal)
The two kicked off their Home and Home concert series last week in Eminem's hometown of Detroit. The two will hit the stage at Yankee Stadium again tonight for another performance.

Unless 50 Cent changes his mind, we're all safe until about ... the day after the 2010 VMAs. 50 — who has made quite an impact on Twitter in recent weeks with his outlandish posts — says he's taking a break from social networking until Monday, the day after the big show.
When we spoke to him in Detroit last week as he, along with his G-Unit soldiers Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks, joined Eminem and Jay-Z's Home and Home concerts at Comerica Park, Fif explained to MTV News the reason for his tweeting hiatus.
"I just had to give it a break because I had to go back to writing. Writing my record," he said. "Concentrate on the music, picking the right things."
On Twitter, 50 said he previewed some of his new material for Eminem, and the ones Slim Shady told him to play over and over are the songs he's keeping. The multiplatinum mogul has been getting an abundance of beats to choose from.
"A lot of producers send stuff that's interesting," he said. "To me, it inspires me to write with different cadences, see a different style. I don't want the record to sound like old material. I want it to sound like something new. They all go, 'Oh, Fif, we want that Get Rich or Die Tryin'. They do the same thing to Jay-Z, [but] if you want the old one, buy the old one. If you want the new material that the artist is inspired to write, check it out.
"I sat with Swizz [Beatz]; I'mma try to get in with him. Don't even be surprised if you hear me and Kanye, just talented artists — period. I'mma collaborate and make a monster this time. Ain't nobody off limits to me in my head. If creatively they have something they feel is something for the project, I'm with it."
The Queens MC doesn't have a release date yet for his new LP. Instead, the Unit's focus has been heavily on their "Punch Line King," Lloyd Banks. Lloyd dropped a new record called "See Me Bright" just this past Friday and, like Kanye West, he's promising new music every week on the same day. Banks' The Hunger for More 2 comes out November 23
Dipset member Juelz Santana is excited about a new addition, but this time it's to his family.
According to published reports, Juelz and his girlfriend, video vixen Kimbella have welcomed their new baby in to the world.
Although they have not announced the sex of the new bundle of joy, the new baby makes the couple's first together, but second for both Juelz and Kimbella, who each have one child from previous relationships.
Kimbella, who has quite a resume on and off the camera, has been romantically linked to R&B singer Trey Songz, Dallas Mavericks' player Shawn Marion, and rappers Fabolous and Lil Wayne; but has been with Juelz since last summer after being swooned via Twitter and text.
The two have collaborated in various videos, including Juelz's video for his collaboration with Chris Brown, “Back to the Crib”.
Accused of domestic violence against the mother of his children.
Floyd Mayweather's drive way was flooded with police early this morning when they received a call at 5:03 from Josie Harris who is the mother to Floyd Mayweather's children. She claims Floyd attacked her and even had to go to Southern Hills Hospital at one point but has since been released.
Sources within the Las Vegas police department say they are unable to located Floyd and would like to interview him. They say they want to speak to Floyd before deciding whether to actually arrest him. Harris is said to be getting a restraining order against Floyd in court today.
Producer Bangladesh Puts Beef With Lil Wayne Aside Over Unpaid "A Milli" Beat To Work On Nicki Minaj's 'Pink Friday' Album
Earlier this year producer Bangladesh -- the man behind hits for the likes of Ludacris and Beyonce -- put Lil Wayne on blast for failing to pay his $500,000 production bill, but it seems that the two have settled their fiscal squabble. The BoomBox caught up with the Atlanta based producer, born Shondrae Crawford, who was singing a very different tune at the mention of Wayne.
"Everything is being worked out through the legal process," he told The BoomBox. "It's really out of his control honestly. I mean he don't run the label, he don't own the label -- he's just on the label. I just got an email from my attorney saying they're getting the exact number of what I'm owned and things will be taken care of. "
The whole disagreement between Wayne and Bangladesh started over the track 'A Millie' which appeared on his 2008 album 'Tha Carter III.' Bangladesh alleged that the popularity of the track propelled the album to sell over three million copies domestically. Proving that there are no hard feelings, Bangladesh plans to put together more beats for Wayne.
"[Young Money president] Mack Maine reached out to me not too long ago telling me Wayne wants some beats," he says. "It's specific beats that he wants. My thing is, long as this gets taken care of and we don't have any future problems everything will be worked out. It ain't the beef with Wayne it's just the whole label. I really never had too much of a relationship with Wayne, it was just more of a mutual friend type of thing. I guess [Mack Maine] talked to him from jail and he reached out to me telling me Nicki [Minaj] wanted something and, something I already did."
Not only is T.I. facing jail time for possibly violating his probation, but the consequences don’t end there. The emcee, who nabbed an AXE endorsement earlier this year, may lose his sponsorship from the company following his recent arrest for felony drug possession. A rep for AXE tells TMZ that the company was “troubled by [T.I.'s] arrest” and will be “reviewing our promotional activities.”
His professional relationship with the corporation came to fruition after T.I. promised to clean up his act after serving a bid for weapons possession. The company even enlisted him as its launch artist for their “One Night Only” concert series in NYC, which saw contemporaries such as Mary J. Blige, Keri Hilson and B.o.B joining the King of the South on stage. Tip is still featured on the AXE website, but it’s company may not have his back any longer.
