There was a rumor about Jay Z taking Beyonce's name and it turns out it may be true. Sources say that Jay Z will soon be known as Shawn Knowles-Carter. This will help the Knowles name live on because Beyonce's parents are divorcing and they don't have any boys. This is very interesting if it is true. It shows Jay Z's dedication to Beyonce.

SPATE artists on the verge are artists that are successful but need to break that commercial barrier to achieve the ultimate artists success.
1- Sha Stimuli Why? Sha worked really hard in 2008 and 2009 from appearances on BET and MTV and he was unsigned. In 2010 I know he will solidify his fan base and drop more classic music so he can achieve mainstream success. He also dropped his debut album My Soul To Keep with critical acclaim. What does he have to do? Sha has been in the game along time and he has developed a lot of fans. Sha Stimuli is very popular but he hasn't been able to break that commercial barrier. I don't think the public has fallen in love with his music just yet. Sha like many other artists on the verge need that song to take them over the line. That song that people can't deny is the truth. The song must change hip hop in some way and make an impact.
2- Tone Trump Why? He was seen on every blog and website and he dropped an official digital album then sold it in stores. He is still currently promoting his latest project. What does he need to do? Tone Trump has a fan base but he still hasn't produced that song that will change hip hop. Every artist has to create a song that will change hip hop in order to take their careers to the next level. Maino's song was "Hi Hater", Souljaboy's song was "Crank That". Drake's song was "The best I ever had", I can go on and on. Trump needs that song like many other artists.
3- Nicki Minaj Why? Well its obvious her achievements as an unsigned artist but now she is signed to a major and her expectations are high but Nicki did work in 2009. What does she have to do? Nicki has yet to make a hit by herself. She has to drop a solo record and do some numbers in order for her to take her career to the next level. She has a large fan base but fans and no hits equals no money.
4- Travis Porter Why? They can be heard on you local radio station and they are unsigned. Also, you can see their video's on mostly all popular websites and blogs. What do they have to do? They currently have a hit record on the radio "Go Shorty" which is being played in Southern markets. They are on their way but they do need to keep the momentum that they currently have. This can be difficult because once their single dies down they must hit the market with another hit song.
5- D. Julien Why? One year ago he was virtually unknown, in 2009 he was seen on allhiphop, hiphopdx, spatemag and a whole bunch of other sites. He developed a strong fan base on his own and he is only 19. You can't forget about the fact that he is one of the nicest up and coming artists in the game. I think D. Julien is one of the most talented new artists I heard in 2009. Much luck in 2010. What does he need to do? D. Julien needs a hit song, whether its a youtube or myspace hit or even a local radio hit. But its all about big records. Once he gets that record he will achieve mainstream success.
Contrary to internet rumors Asher Roth is not gay. There was a rumor that Asher Roth came out the closet on a E Channel interview about Clay Aiken. DJ Vlad came forth because he is an executive and Loud/SRC and says these rumors are false. Also, bloggers were saying he is being dropped from the label and Vlad also squashed those rumors by saying Asher sold 1 million copies of his single "I love college" so that means he is high priority at the label. We will keep you posted.
America has officially fallen in love with Susan Boyle. Are you surprised? I have to admit when I heard her sing I was blown away but haven't we heard singers before that just blew us away? Well, I love the fact that it seems like the underdog won. The industry is always saying that you have to have a certain look and she came along and proved everyone wrong. You don't have to be a beautiful model type in order to sell records. She just makes great music and if she keeps doing that then she will be around for a long time.
The who, what and why's are not answered yet but we do know that Beanie Sigel has been in a car accident. A tow truck rap his vehicle off the road and he was not the driver. He has sustained injuries but how much is unknown. We will keep you updated.
I obviously don't have this type of luck. But some guy uploaded a video to youtube with robots invading a city and now he is 30 million dollars richer. Hollywood came calling only 4 days later and he made the deal. The movie will not be based on the video but his work does have a hollywood feel, God Bless it only cost him $300. Diggy Simmons dropped a mixtape and without Russel Simmons and Rev Run help. I'm listening to it right now so I actually don't have an opinion yet but so far I didn't turn it off yet so that's a good sign. I think it was important for him to take the approach of doing things on his own but his brother tried the same thing but had no luck. What is Diggy's fate? Slip N Slide joined forces with the Ted Lucas Foundation for the 2009 Santa’s Christmas toy giveaway and season of giving celebration. The event took place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today (December 19) at Buccaneer Park at 3100 NW 207th Street in Miami Gardens, Florida. The foundation was started by the founder of Slip N Slide Ted lucas and it focuses on helping young girls and boys improve their reading and math skills.
Onyx says they created the whole Black Rock thing and they have a new project coming out called Black Rock. Well, Dame Dash released an album on itunes called Black Rock and it did pretty well from what im hearing for an indie album. Onyx is one of the most underrated hip hop groups of all time. Make sure you guys check the new material though, I'm really digging it.
It's always terrible to have to talk about death but a great played succumbed to injuries sustained in a fight between him and his fiance. NFL player Chris Henry died after getting into an argument with his fiance and jumping on the back of a pickup truck. Somehow he ended up falling off and getting seriously injured. I just wanted to express my condolences to his family. R.I.P Chris you will be missed.
Gucci Mane hits 90,000 with his latest release "The State Vs Radric Davis". It did a lot better than I thought. Chris Brown only did slightly better somewhere around 130,000 first week.
Kanye West seems to be humbled by receiving album of the decade by Entertainment Weekly. The award is for his album "The College Dropout". He can add this to his growing list of accomplishments. Even though Kanye has done some dumb stuff lately, he is still one of the most talented people in the industry. I'm looking forward to hearing new music from dude.
Outasight kinda reminds me of a white Kid Cudi but he is very talented. I have only heard a few cuts and I'm already impressed. I don't usually put a lot of new comers on the front page....lol Just kidding but this dude has something and his sound is unique. You can't deny the fact that his vocal skills are kinda tight also. Artists like Asher Roth really opened the door for the white kid next door to make a hip hop album. A few years back this would not have been possible.
Well, I'm hearing that Brandy has a rap alias now called Bran Nu. I don't think she is gonna be spitting bars like Remy Ma or Nicki Minaj. I think it will be a more sing rap type of style. If she is really trying to spit then I don't think it will work. How many female singers become rappers and make it? Your correct, none.
